Tropic Face Smooth Polish
A couple of weeks ago Tropic Skincare were asking on twitter and facebook for bloggers to contact them about reviewing their products. Sarah from Sugarpuffish messaged me about it and said she had tried a few of their products before and thought I might be interested. I always trust Sarah's opinion when it comes to natural skincare.
Once I had a good noisy around the website I really liked the sound of the brand so thought I would contact them.
Tropic skincare was launched in 2007 by Susan Ma who was on The Apprentice in 2011.
There are three principles that the brand goes by which are pure, honest and effective. The products are suitable for all skin types, derived from 100% pure plant extracts, vegan and are not tested on animals.
The Face Smooth Polish is an exfoliator that contains Acai berries and alpha hydroxy acid to brighten and stimulate skin renewal. It is a sugar scrub that contains Jojoba oil which is great for the skin.
When I opened the polish I needed to give it a stir with the spatula that comes with it as I found the sugar had sunk a little. Once stirred, I scooped a small amount out and applied to dry skin. I gently rubbed it into my skin concentrating on the chin and nose as these are two of my problem areas.
This is quite a intense scrub, sensitive skins may want to be weary but I didn't find it scratchy at all. The oils make it feel luxurious and it has a lovely citrus scent.
Once I massaged into my skin for about a minute I took a flannel, you can also use a muslin cloth and removed the polish with warm water. I did feel like I needed to rinse my face a couple of times to get rid of any residue but as the product is full of natural oils I don't mind leaving a bit on and just massage it in.
Once dry my face felt so smooth, I don't think it has ever felt so good. It looked glowing and really healthy, I was thoroughly impressed.
My skin felt so nourished that I didn't bother putting on any moisturiser after I just went straight to bed.
I've used this a few times now and my skin is loving it. My skin is feeling even, my pores appear smaller and my moisturiser is sinking in a lot better.
I do find it a little messy to use with the sugar and oil but its worth that little bit of extra effort for the result. Overall I am really impressed. I now have a long list of products I want to try from the site, and I think the body Smooth Polish which is similar to this would be amazing especially on those dry elbows and knees.
It is £15 for a 100ml tub which I think is going to last me a long time as you only need to use it twice a week. You can purchase it from the site here.
Have you tried this brand before? If so I'd love to know what other products you would recommend.
*This product was sent for a review but all opinions are my own. I am always honest.

DeleteThis sounds like a great polish. I like quite a rough polish on my face sometimes. I think probably because of the one I'm usually from lush. I love that it's all natural too. M X
ReplyDeleteYeah me too, You can really tell its natural as well. so lovely. x
DeleteThank you for mentioning me & I'm so pleased you like this. As someone with sensitive skin I wet my face first and that helps soften the scrub. The cleanser is a good dupe for Liz Earle. I've seen mixed reviews for the moisturiser but I like it. I'm currently testing the new luxury oils. Great review Alice :)

ReplyDeleteI've been loving a brand called Neal's Yard recently that have the same sort of concept, you should check them out!
www.SamuelJamesMorris.com
I don't think I have tried anything from Neal's yeard before but I have heard loads of good things about the brand. Let me know if you try out tropic skin care. x
DeleteI've been using the entire range for about a year. My ordinal favourite is the vitamin tonic! It is very refreshing and smells fab! The brigtening polish is also a fabourite of mine. The body smooth however is far too messy and I get salt everywhere so I won't be using that again. The cleanser and moisturiser is amazing as is the body love butter . My skin is very sensitive and dry. It is prone to allergic reactions as I have eczema. I found these products to work well with the nature of my skin. Very impressed. Although slightly costly
ReplyDeleteIt is good to know it works on sensitive skin as well. :) x
