Beauty Basket #1

I have seen a few bloggers do a similar post to this and I really like the concept, so of course I wanted to join in.
I have a little heart basket that used to contain my lip balms but I have had a clear out of those and I am now storing them somewhere else. So I decided to use the basket to hold products that I want to get more use out of, kind of a shopping your stash thing. I will be changing these products up every so often and letting you know what's in the basket.

At the moment I have products that I got in the sales. I have a habit of buying new products, using them a few times then forgetting about them. This is why I am on a spending ban. So I plan to get lots of use out of my new items.
I have some products from the Laura Mercier Signature colour Essentials set. The palette that contains 4 eye shadows and a blush which is just perfect for creating a subtle but girlie look, I usually finish of that look with a slick of lip gloss in sweetheart which is a lovely pearled pink. The other thing from the set is the Caviar Stick in Twilight a gorgeous silver which is perfect for a smokey eye.
A couple of other things I picked up in the Space NK sale was the Laura Mercier Neutral Colour Compact which contains 2 eye shadows and a Tightline Cake Eye Liner. This is great to create a soft neutral smokey eye. The other thing was the Bonne Mine Palette which is full of cream bronzers, highlighters and blushes which gives you the perfect glowing base.

I have hit pan on a couple of bronzers and have decided to just use them up. One is Nars Laguna Bronzer. I love this, it is great for my pale skin, not to orangey.
More eye products are the Pixi Lid Last Shadow Pens in the colours Brun Beam and Shell Sheen. I picked these up in the asos sale for about £8 I think. They are really creamy and apply well but I do find I need a primer to make them last.
Lastly is the This Works Shimmer Balm, this definitely gives you a more glow than shimmer and I do have to be careful not to put too much on but I do really like it.

I think this little lot will keep me going for a while.
What bits did you pick up in the sale? Do you like shopping your stash?

  1. This looks like such a great idea. I love shopping my stash because sometimes good products just hide under junk. <3

  4. I love this idea for a post! I'm always forgetting about my purchases but then get really excited when I come across them again..usually in the back of a drawer or something! Love Laura Mercier lip glosses, they smell better than the Mac ones in my opinion!

  5. What lovely products in your basket! I think this is a great idea to get you to use your full collection more evenly, and show some love to products that otherwise might be forgotten or neglected. Love all the Laura Mercier :)

  6. Your little basket of goodies looks fab. I have a little tray for my 'main' make up, but I need to switch it up a bit to get more use out of my collection. I'm tempted to try a Laura Mercier product, possibly the tinted moisturiser. You're a similar skin tone to me...have you tried it?

    1. Yes I have, I was the lightest shade but it matched me well. I think you would get on with it really well as you have dryer skin than me. xx

  8. Good thinking. I have a drawer of stuff I need to use more too. I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of make up I own so it needs to stop!

  11. I do the same with new make up. This year I want to atleast hit pan on a few things before moving onto the next.

Good idea to leave them out so you remember to use them.

  12. I love this idea too! Makes sense that you are more likely to use up products when they are in the open vs. stashed away in a drawer somewhere ;)

  13. I like to put on display the products I want to use more - or even, use up! - so I'm not tempted to use something else. This works well with mascara, face powder and boring things like that but when it comes to blush or bronzer, I'm always tempted to use a different one every day!
